A coach friend shared this on Facebook and said, “Sometimes you just need a sweet, detailed answer fueled by someone not insinuating even a teensy bit that you’re stupid:”
The replies that followed looked like this:
- This is exactly how it is for one of my sons. I’m grateful for those that get it.
- I won’t go to places like Subway cause it’s way too much pressure. 🤷🏻♀️
- I will take you there sometime if you want a sandwich.Hide or report this
- Too much stress! Thank you though! ❤️❤️❤️
Here’s the thing – Hint – it is totally okay to say, “I’ve never eaten here before, would you step me through your ordering process?”
Because it is okay to ask for help – in any situation.
Asking will bring out the best in other humans.
It gives them an opportunity for grace.
So when you find yourself avoiding something because you don’t know how to handle it – because it just feels stressful to even think about: Reach out to someone. Reach out to anyone.
We do not have to be Wonder Woman in every instance.
It’s also the fastest way to make a new friend – did you know that?
Go ask someone to hold your hand, walk you through something.
Give them grace.
